I met Alissa at this Afro-Peruvian jazz club called the Tatuma Social Club tonight, and who was playing guitar? A Barack Obama lookalike.
I’d never really considered Peruvian jazz or it’s potential African influence before, but it was pretty awesome. The cocktails and tapas were a bit pricey, but damn good. It’s smack in the middle of midfrown and they have a $12 lunch with live music, so I can see many a concepting session going down there soon.
No Mas presents the story of the greatest moments of professional sports.
In celebration of the greatest athletic achievement by a man on a psychedelic journey, No Mas and artist James Blagden proudly present the animated tale of Dock Ellis’ legendary LSD no-hitter. In the past few years weve heard all too much about performance enhancing drugs from greenies to tetrahydrogestrinone, and not enough about performance inhibiting drugs. If our evaluation of the records of athletes like Mark McGwire, Roger Clemens, Marion Jones, and Barry Bonds needs to be revised downwards with an asterisk, we submit that that Dock Ellis record deserves a giant exclamation point. Of the 263 no-hitters ever thrown in the Big Leagues, we can only guess how many were aided by steroids, but we can say without question that only one was ever thrown on acid.
Sadly, the great Dock Ellis died last December at 63. A year before, radio producers Donnell Alexander and Neille Ilel, had recorded an interview with Ellis in which the former Pirate right hander gave a moment by moment account of June 12, 1970, the day he no-hit the San Diego Padres. Alexander and Ilels original four minute piece appeared March 29, 2008 on NPRs Weekend America. When we stumbled across that piece this past June, Blagden and Isenberg were inspired to create a short animated film around the original audio.

I can’t wait to break this in. 2010 Arbor Abacus. I got all the other components at clearance sales, so I can kind of justify the extra money for a really nice, ecologically responsible snowboard. Los Angeles, Boulder, and Tahoe, here I come. (Yes, you can snowboard a couple hours outside of Los Angeles).
I used to work with this guy in Seattle. He worked on a couple of my campaigns and was a really nice, quiet guy. Everyone was really worried when he disappeared. It turns out he lived a secret double-life complete with separate bank accounts and deviant shit and bailed on his pregnant wife and two children. I’m glad he wasn’t murdered, but now I think he’s a real ass hole.

Can’t we just let gay people be gay instead of making them bottle it up as some secret until they go crazy and do horrible things like this? Everyone would have been totally fine if he felt he was allowed to be who he really is.
Monster dominates the top row. Amp has corn syrup in it and vitamin energy tastes like cough syrup.

Our Obama stuff in the next issue of Communication Arts, which I think is the Nov/Dec issue (not the Photo Annual). It will be the first time I buy a CA in almost a decade.

Some quick iPhone unboxing pics of my new Sogreni, The Professor. I’ll take some proper photos with my real camera later on, after I finish some work, research the NYC city council people I know nothing about, vote, and get him properly set up. Priorities are boring.
He’s finally here!
