Let’s hope the second album holds up to the first.

I met Alissa at this Afro-Peruvian jazz club called the Tatuma Social Club tonight, and who was playing guitar? A Barack Obama lookalike.
I’d never really considered Peruvian jazz or it’s potential African influence before, but it was pretty awesome. The cocktails and tapas were a bit pricey, but damn good. It’s smack in the middle of midfrown and they have a $12 lunch with live music, so I can see many a concepting session going down there soon.

What do you get when you combine j-pop boy band singing, electroclash basslines, flashing lights, unicorns, glitter, disco balls and bikes? I have no idea, but it’s kind of awesome in an epileptic fit-inducing kind of way.

Vinyl Sunday - Girls Lust For Life / Live in San Francisco 7”
They played the Bowery Ballroom on Friday and aside from a weak sound mix in the beginning, they were epic all the way through to the Daniel Johnston cover.

Daisy Bell, as sung by the IBM 7094 in 1961. This was the inspiration before the HAL 9000 death sequence in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001.
